History

The Amy Karyn Home Collection by Amy Lichstein began in 1982. Inspired by beautiful antique French textiles, Amy designed a line of one-of-a-kind pillows that quickly found their way into stores and homes across the country.

Through out the years, Amy designed a lines of home décor items for high end retail stores such as Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, Fortunoff and Ethan Allen. This private label collection included not only her signature pillows, but also a line of bedding, table linens, and baby bedding and accessories.

As the private label collection caught on and began to flourish, Amy continued to design her own fabrics and also undertook the development of a line of furniture. In 2003 she joined forces with Lee Industries, and designer a line of furniture and fabrics which were distributed by Lee Industries. Amy’s unique and beautiful fabrics and furniture designs had the elegance and mass appeal to win distribution in major retail chains across the country in private lable programs.

The Amy Karyn collection has been showcased in various retail locations in Lambertville, New Jersey, and in New York City at ABC Carpet and Home. In 2006 the Amy Karyn Home Collection, including pillows, textiles, and furniture found a permanent venue with the opening of the Amy Karyn flagship store in Hopewell, New Jersey. Here Amy’s designs have continued to find a place in the hearts and homes of Amy Karyn admirers.

Present

Nestled in the heart of quaint and bustling downtown Hopewell, New Jersey, the flagship store has enabled the company to expand the Amy Karyn Home Collection significantly. The Hopewell store offers personal services such as in-store consultations and interior design services, as well as the complete collection of Amy Karyn home décor, fabrics, furniture, even window treatments. Here clients can find Amy’s fabrics sold by the yard, and, working with the professional staff, virtually anything can be customized.

Amy believes that good design is forever. She does not retire her fabric patterns and offers a selection of over 150 hand printed fabrics. Amy lovingly and meticulously oversees the creation of her fabric designs at her printing facility, Paramount Handprints. Here, too, fabrics can be custom colored to suit clients’ needs. The fabric collection consists of paisleys, damasks, stripes and florals inspired by the elegant antique textile patterns Amy loves. Each year the company adds to the collection, with two to three new patterns and six to ten color ways.

As a designer, Amy has dedicated her life to creating home furnishings in which the old world meets a fresh eye, a style echoed in everything from her exquisite textile patterns to her extraordinary furniture designs, and everything in between. “When a person is passionate about something, it overflows into everything she does,” Amy says.
